---

The New subscriptions chart displays the number of new (first-time activated) subscriptions in your app. This metric shows the number of new subscriptions starting in a specific time period, including both subscriptions that start from scratch and free trials that convert into paid subscriptions. It does not include subscription renewals or subscriptions that have been restarted.

## Calculation

The new subscriptions metric counts first-time subscription activations during the period — both subscriptions that start from scratch and free trials that convert into paid subscriptions.

## Refund handling

New subscriptions does **not** deduct refunds — the count includes subscriptions that were later refunded. To gauge net impact, compare against [Refund events](refund-events).

For the full comparison across metrics, see [How metrics handle refunds](refund-events#how-metrics-handle-refunds).
